Traveling to Billings, MT for Vision Care

Visiting Billings, MT

Located in Billings, MT, the state's largest city, Vance Thompson Vision's newest facility enables our award-winning team of ophthalmologist surgeons to better care for even more patients. Led by Dr. Russell Swan, we are extraordinarily proud to be home to one of the region's most extensively trained and highly experienced groups of eye care professionals. For this reason, we have many patients who travel to us from another part of the state and even from elsewhere in the U.S. If you're looking for things to do while you're in town for your visit, see our below suggestions.

Billings has a number of wonderful restaurants. One of our favorites is Jake's Bar and Grill, a steakhouse that prides itself on working with farms and companies right here in Montana. The Fieldhouse is a great, family-friendly option that serves locally grown foods with a sustainable mission and a feeling of community. If you're looking for something sweet, we suggest Caramel Cookie Waffles, a quaint cafe featuring delicious stroopwafels and an adorable store for some cute souvenirs. The Sassy Biscuit Co. is a great place to have something a little sweet and savory, featuring scratch-made biscuits, mouth-watering granola, and incredible knife-and-fork sandwiches.

If you're looking to explore outdoors Montana, we suggest The Rimrocks. With miles of hiking and biking trails and rock climbing along beautiful sandstone rock, this area provides an incredible view overlooking Billings, Montana's largest city. Pictograph Cave State Park is a national historic landmark that features artifacts and rock paintings of the prehistoric hunters who camped in Pictograph Cave, some of which date back 2,000 years ago! This is a great place to learn about the origins of human life in Montana while enjoying the many trails and picnic facilities it has to offer. Tippet Rise Art Center is another wonderful place to visit if your looking to experience the wonders of Montana and is set against the Beartooth Mountains. Tippet Rise features a number of music and art events both indoors and out, as well as hiking and biking trails and tours of a number of outdoor sculptures. Moss Mansion Museum offers a historic look at Montana culture, as this is a turn-of-the-century home that was built in 1903 by the same architect who designed buildings, such as Waldorf Astoria and the Plaza Hotel. With all the original fixtures still intact, early technological advances, like the rotary telephone and electric bell system, and preserved letters from the family and other archives, this is a true reflection of what Billings was like in the early 1900s. If you're looking for a night on the town, Billings Brew's Trail is Montana's only walkable brewery trail and is right in downtown Billings. This self-guided tour has six breweries, two distilleries, and a cider house all within 1.5 miles. As you walk, enjoy historic downtown Billings.
