Meet Dr. John Goertz
Dr. John Goertz loves creating and maintaining relationships with patients and referring doctors. He specializes in the pre- and postoperative management of refractive and cataract surgery patients and corneal disease and glaucoma cases. He brings over 20 years of refractive co-management experience to Vance Thompson Vision.
Dr. Goertz began in refractive surgery practice shortly after the excimer laser was approved by the FDA in 1995 and has been a member of the optometric community in Omaha for 24 years. During this time, he cared for patients of Nebraska Eye and Laser Associates, managing over 60,000 LASIK cases, in addition to serving as the Director of Optometric Services. Dr. Goertz grew up in Hillsboro, Kansas, and attended Kansas State University, where he completed his bachelor’s degree before moving on to the University of Houston College of Optometry to earn his doctorate degree as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. Dr. Goertz is currently a member of the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society and the Nebraska and Iowa Optometric Associations and enjoys lecturing on refractive and cataract surgery.

HOBBIES & PERSONAL INTERESTS
Outside of work, Dr. Goertz enjoys home improvement projects with his wife, Kelly, playing golf with (and losing to) their three teenage children, Kristin, Lauren, and Jake, spending time with his dog Milo, and vacationing with his family to their favorite Caribbean beach destinations.
